Laura Mercier grew up in the South of France, but went to Paris when she was 17 to study in a fine art school. However, she changed her mind and decided she’d rather be improving someone’s face with her painting than adding more static paintings to the world. She went to the Carita school and specialised in makeup application. She relocated to New York in 1985 and was involved in the launch of American Elle. After that she worked on countless editorial spreads and photo shoots for huge names like Bergdof Goodman, Vanity Fair, L’Oreal, and Victoria’s secret, to name but a few! She also worked closely with Madonna to create her various looks for television and print. Most recently she had a 4 year contract with Elizabeth Arden, and helped them with various advertising campaigns and was also involved with some of Chanel’s.In 1996, Laura Mercier established her own makeup line which can now be found in 24 different countries! It’s very popular as it is based on classic shades and timeless techniques, rather than the latest trends.
